Announcing the RCYK Discussion Groups

Mai 30, 2021Projets, RCYK, Mise à jour

We’re getting started on developing workshops and educational material for the Rainbow Coalition of Yellowknife, and we’re hosting community discussion groups to help inform the content and priorities of these materials.

These discussion groups will just be one of the ways that you’ll be able to contribute your ideas and perspectives about what should be included in this necessary education with the Rainbow Coalition of Yellowknife.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions, feel free to check out our FAQs, or you can reach out to us at resource@rainbowcoalitionyk.org.

Can I attend more than one discussion group?

Of course! We want folks to attend as many discussion groups that are relevant to their experiences and identities. Just keep in mind that the questions might seem really similar across discussion groups.

I'm not out, can I still attend a discussion group?

Yes. We don’t require people to be out of the closet in order to attend. You’ll be welcome to attend using a pseudonym, and there will be no expectation that you disclose who you are on camera. Just keep in mind that the North is a small place, and people may figure out who you are.

If you’re nervous about attending a discussion group, you’ll be able to offer your feedback in a survey anonymously.

What if I can't attend the discussion group?

Unfortunately, we can’t change the times and dates of the discussion groups. However, we will be releasing a survey soon where folks can offer their feedback or responses to the same questions used in the discussion groups.

How much will I be paid for my participation?

Any person who attends a discussion group where we’re asking them to share about their lived experiences will be remunerated with an honorarium. The amount of honorarium will depend on how many people attend each discussion group, however it will be at least $20.

We’re asking allies to attend discussion groups as volunteers to ensure that we can provide 2SLGBTQIAP+ participants with meaningful compensation.
